Angela Kirkwood is an illustrator and animator based in Edinburgh. Her work embodies a DIY aesthetic that plays on feelings of nostalgia for childhood cartoons.
The print is inspired by the keys many Palestinians kept in the hope of returning to their homes, from which they were expelled in 1948. The keys, passed down through generations, are a symbol of hope that one day Palestinians will be able to return to their land and live with peace, dignity and freedom.
